Are you working on an innovative project which aims to protect the environment?
With the increasing effects of climate change on our planet at the top of government agendas worldwide, renewable energy, protection of our environment and the reduction of waste is undoubtedly one of the most important areas for R&D of this decade. Some companies in this sector are unaware that they are eligible for an R&D tax claim.

What qualifies as R&D in the environment and renewable energy sector?
The R&D tax credits scheme rewards any company that undertakes work to resolve a ‘scientific or technological uncertainty’ and in doing so increases the overall knowledge or capability in that field. Qualifying activities may include:
- Designing and developing more efficient or cheaper solar or wind technology that advances overall capability.
- Recycling of waste to create new or improved products which exceed current performance levels or significantly reduce costs.
- Developing unique processes or products to substantially reduce noise pollution.
- Designing environmentally friendly products or techniques which surpass those readily available.
